I can't tell you how many times I've been ragged on by my PR friend for being a marketer. She's all judgmental and what not because she thinks her job is to clear up all the mess Marketing makes. Ha!

I know there are plenty of black hats and scam artists out there. But great marketing is all about building relationships. And that's what I do.

Annie,

Thanks for sharing your writing tip with me and our readers. Finding the "one true" thing or one important thing to help focus ones communications sounds like a good way of helping people avoid overwhelm and getting the intended message 'out there'!

I don't know if it's a secret but one of the things I try to do is say the most true thing I can think of and to encourage others to do the same. As a freelancer I often speak to clients who need help with words in one form or another but they can't seem to put their fingers on what exactly. So I ask them, 'what's your story?' 'what makes you tick?' what brings you alive? why did you chose this path rather than another? did something happen? It's amazing how direct and probing questions to inspire unexpected and really great information.

Superb site you have here but I was curious
if you knew of any discussion boards that cover the same
topics discussed in this article? I'd really like to be a part of online community where I can get feedback from other experienced individuals that share the same interest. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks a lot!

Hi Timo,

Instead of using webmail some people use Outlook (Microsoft PC), Thunderbird (Free, Opensource) or Mail (Apple Mac) to download emails to their computer. You can download mail from multiple email accounts e.g. from your webhost and gmail servers. This means that when you open the application on your computer and check for mail it checks both personal and work email, and downloads them to separate folders. You don’t need to keep going on to the internet and logging in to the accounts separately. Is that what you meant?

If so, my latest blog post "How to set up email on your computer without tearing your hair out" will give you all the information you need to set your email accounts up in Outlook or a similar email client.

Maija,

Good post!

Many web hosts provide the e-mail account as part of the package that is according to your domain name.

There is just one thing ... I use Gmail for my personal e-mail and then there is my e-mail account provided by my web host. Do you think there is a way to manage these accounts centrally (like through one application)?

That would make my life a bit easier.

Cheers,
Timo

Mark,

I think the value of Wordpress is in the way it acts as a really useful CMS, allowing clients to update the website or blog themselves. It's not really defined by it's templates. You can get free themes, buy themes, re-model themes, or build you own: it gives you complete flexibility. You can create own blog or website branding, and benefiting from the adaptability of the Wordpress platform at the same time: you can change your website and add to it so easily.

Maija
A big thankyou for explaining in detail reasons for using Twitter.
Till recently the whole social media arena scared me, and like you mentioned in your article about you, I couldnt see the point of Twitter. However I am now converted!!! yet have a long way to go to understand how to use it effectively! I look forward to finding out more about this revolutionary mode of communication!
